There were 434 commercial casinos
in 11 states in 2001. The gaming industry provides more than 364,000
jobs nationwide.
Casinos are more than economic engines, they are one of America's
most popular forms of entertainment.
According to a study by the American Gaming Association (AGA),
Americans make more than 300 million trips to casinos per year,
approximately the same number of trips they make to amusement and
theme parks.
Each year the AGA publishes "The State of the States,"
an annual survey available to the general public, policy-makers
and the media that provides up-to-date facts about America's casino
entertainment industry and its positive impact on our nation's economy.
