"Most of the city's share of the local gaming tax supported large capital improvements of regional significance, such as East Port Marina and EastSide Centre Recreational Complex. Without gaming tax revenues, the city could not be pursuing a redevelopment of a huge, abandoned industrial site, which shall have a dramatic impact upon the economy of the entire metropolitan area."
    -East Peoria Mayor Charles Dobbelaire
